You should brainstorm using the following questions: Whether the essay focuses on a serious or minor idea or belief, it should be something you strongly believe in.
You should discuss how this belief has impacted your life, rather than preaching about why you’re right and others are wrong, etc.
As you read through the prompts, you should choose at least three favorites.

Depending on the schools to which you are applying, the Common App can greatly streamline the admissions process.
Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.
