Creative Writing Online Class

In Novel Writing Essentials and Write Your Novel (each offered online and in Sydney), you will workshop your actual manuscript and take it from its beginnings to completion.

However, a discussion post is due every Wednesday and a writing assignment is due every Friday.

Class Dates: Fall 2019 (September 3) Course Description: A course in fiction and non-fiction types of creative writing that provides instruction and practice in the following genres: poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction.

The ZORA course is designed to fit around busy and hectic lifestyles so there are no set times to be online.

We recommend spending 20 minutes to an hour on each assignment. Black women and women of colour who want to nurture their creative writing practice.

The assignments are sent to you every morning, so you can do them whenever and wherever you want!

Each week we’ll cover a specific theme such as characterization, setting, dialogue and more.It allowed me to realize that fiction and non-fiction aren’t as different as they seem, especially when writing personal essays.Class Times: Students do not meet at regularly scheduled class times.Course requirements will include weekly participation in class discussions, critiquing the work of fellow classmates, and submitting original creative works.Compositions: Ten poems, one short story, a persuasive speech, a lyric essay, a personal essay, and a news article Class Itinerary: This course requires online interaction between the student, their peers, and the teacher through Canvas.You’ll be buzzing with new ideas, techniques and insight into creating compelling fiction – that you can immediately apply to your own pursue further writing goals such as short stories or to write the next great novel.“The course was the absolute nuts and bolts approach I was looking for.I loved the logical step-by-step approach to the craft of writing.MIT offers courses in fiction, editing and publishing, in addition to courses on writing essays.The fiction course has required reading with titles like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
