You will respond to an externally set brief to develop a project with support from your teachers.

You will be assessed through a mixture of coursework (60%) and exam projects (40%) which you will complete in the studio within a fixed time period.

You will develop your understanding of graphic communication by participating in a range of exciting design briefs.

You will be introduced to a wide variety of creative practitioners and theories in the field, as well as having the opportunity to explore both traditional graphic design techniques and the use of industry standard software.You will have the chance to produce work for local and national competitions and see it exhibited both externally and within College at the end of term.Graphic products is concerned with both visual imagery and the production of 3 dimensional outcomes.On some occasions, the logo may carry a numerical value inside the loop.This is to indicate the percentage of recycled materials that have been used to produce the product.CE logo The CE logo stands for Conformité Européenne which is French for ‘European Conformity’.If a product is to be sold within the EU then it must meet certain standards laid down by the EU.Graphic communication is to design for a purpose, to promote, to advertise, to inform, to challenge and to raise awareness. E course of study will also provide opportunities for students to develop transferable skills such as problem solving, project planning, working independently, presenting and organising. Students select one design brief from the exam paper written by AQA.This new course will allow students to develop their KS3 Art and Design skills and explore techniques such as photography and digital design. A Graphic Communication qualification can lead to careers in: Graphic Design, Advertising and Marketing, Illustration, Animation, Publishing and Editing, Production Design. Students produce two projects during the course based on school set design briefs. They develop a project based on this brief for roughly 12 school weeks.There will be opportunities to work with a range of media and techniques such as photography, digital design, painting, drawing and mixed media in order to create a variety of outcomes.The work that is developed will form a personal coursework portfolio.
